Many of you will be forgiven if the Rolling Stones, only one of the biggest rock bands in the world btw, missed some of you youngers. But, this is a great way for you to discover some of their music catalogue, and most importantly, they have only teamed up with the ONLY global rum ambassador Ian Burrell, to create a legendary 2 rum releases honouring their musical past (and exile, long story, but that’s rock and roll for you lol) to Jamaican culture.

To get everyone familiar with the two expressions Hurricane Gold and Hurricane Reserve 2 parties were held at the official Rolling Stones shop in the famous London Carnaby Street. Day 1 was for the Rolling Stones VIP super fans, who were exclusively hand-picked from around the country! And day 2 was for the hospitality and drinks sector.

According to the band and Kite Drinks founder Vincent Gillet, explained at the store launch, part of the reason for relaunching the rum was to better highlight the Stones long-standing love for Jamaica. Ian Burrell explained, the rum was produced using a copper pot and column distillation method, from molasses and local sugarcane, Crossfire Hurricane rum boasts a Jamaican first with the brand uniting rums from four of Jamaica’s most respected distilleries: Hampden Estate, Long Pond, Worthy Park and Clarendon. The result is a 100% Jamaican rum that combines “distinct styles into a single blend that reflects the breadth of the island’s rum making tradition,” per a release. “Crossfire Hurricane brings together Jamaican provenance, music heritage and modern craft.”

“Jamaica got into everything we did in the early seventies – the music, the rhythm, the pace of life,” the group says in a joint statement. “Jamaica was one of the few places that would let us all in. The island said come in, and we recorded ‘Goats Head Soup.’ It’s never let us down since. Crossfire Hurricane is a continuation of that story, more than fifty years on.”

The 2-day launch saw excitement from not only Rolling Stone fans but from authentic rum lovers who enjoyed sipping rum cocktails in the form of Old fashioned’s, rum punches galore and neat serves to really get the essence of the profiles. Mixed down with traditional street Jamaican food provided by Port Royal and the beautiful Lady TT’s team and music provided by selected DJ spinning reggae rhythms

The rum is now available online and in selected retail stores. Congrats on this collaboration with Kite Drinks and Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell with an amazing offering to the rum category in celebration to authentic Jamaican rum heritage. Will it be as big as the Rolling Stones in their heyday? Time will tell, but the feedback already looks very promising!

Share on our socials your feedback on the rum or fave Rolling Stones track. Cheers
