I love a good authentic Caribbean recipe from Chris of Caribbeanpot! I have never heard of cherry rum BBQ sauce, so of course this will be a great new recipe to try out. Of course, when you cook, the alcohol will be emitted out of your sauce so, let’s dig in.
This amazing homemade BBQ sauce will be the hit of your next backyard gathering, and it’s simply amazing on chicken and seafood and works perfect on those grilled vegan and vegetarian dishes as well.
For this rum BBQ sauce, you’ll need…
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion
2 cloves garlic
2 scallions
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Demerara sugar
2-3 tablespoon molasses
1 cup sugar cane juice
1/4 cup honey vinegar (apple cider vinegar will work)
1 1/2 cups tomato ketchup
1 cup dark rum (1/4 cup to finish also) optional
2 tablespoon honey
1 cup cherries (no seeds)
2-3 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
Smother over your chosen food items. Enjoy!
