In 2001 someone thought it was a great idea to celebrate the rum based Daiquiri cocktail, and now we can all get in on the action for National Daiquiri Day! Though any excuse to enjoy a lovely rum cocktail is fine by me. This is a special day to celebrate the classic cocktails rich history and cultural significance, so grab a glass and learn a bit of history to enjoy this rum based cocktail even more.
The Daiquiri cocktail originated in Cuba in the late 19th century, named after the Daiquiri Beach near Santiago de Cuba. A classic Daiquiri is made with white rum, lime juice, and simple syrup. The ratio of ingredients can vary depending on your own personal taste, strength and brand of rum you decide to use.
If you decide to celebrate this day, and why wouldn’t you?? There are so many ways to enjoy a daiquiri aside from the classic 3 ingredient original recipe. You can try adding different flavours like strawberry, mango, or peach to create unique Daiquiri flavour sensations or even swith up and try with a dark rum like the 2 examples in the video below.
And now for the recipe. Play around and enjoy. Cheers
