The weather is heating up and so is the awards being handed out for various rum brands.
Diplomático has earned Gold Medal recognition for three of its signature rums — Reserva Exclusiva, Planas, and Ambassador — at the 2026 Bartender Spirits Awards in Chicago. All three expressions scored 91 points at the annual competition, which is judged by bartenders, bar managers, and beverage directors from across the United States. The competition highlights products that perform in real-world bar and restaurant environments. Ask most people who drink rum and a lot of them will mention Diplomático as a fave and is quite accessible in a lot of places, so its no surprise that it performs well in real life.
“To be recognized across our portfolio by some of the most experienced bartenders and beverage professionals in the U.S. is an incredible honor,” said Erica Jones, Senior Brand Manager, Diplomático Rum — USA & Canada at Brown-Forman.
“These results reflect the care, precision, and consistency that go into every step of our rum-making process, from distillation to blending and ageing,” Jones added.
Judges praised Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva for its rich complexity. Official tasting notes from the brand highlight candied honey, caramel, and black tea balanced by flavors of brûléed banana, toasted almonds, and ginger. Sounds yummy and worthy of an award!
