Founded in Havana/Cuba after the Spanish-American War of 1898, this drink was named after the liberation as a celebration. The word Cuba Libre essentially means free Cuba in Spanish.
The classic Super easy to make with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 fl oz. (50 ml) light Cuban rum
- juice of half a lime
- measure of cola
- ice cubes
- garnish with lime wedge and mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
- fill a highball glass with ice
- pour 1 3/4 fl oz. (50 ml) light Cuban rum
- add juice from half a lime
- top slowly with cola
- add optional garnish, sip and enjoy
